Photostory Friday: Our favourite getaway

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I've been thinking about a photo that really tells a story - and then remembered that I have not yet posted what has become my symbolic start to serious photography. This was taken in December 2007 in Hogsback, our (my husband and I) favourite private getaway. Whenever we travel down to the Eastern Cape, we leave the kids with my parents for a few days and spend it alone in the magical world of Hogsback. It is a wonderful and sacred place of magnificent beauty and you can almost hear the fairies whispering in the ferns. December was the first time I went with my SLR and also the first time I concentrated on photographing anything other than people. I've always found the image of a path or road leading into the distance fascinating and was hoping that I could find something like this to capture. I have had the image printed and framed to put up in the house and I never grow tired of looking at it. Obviously its not because of the brilliance of the photography, but because of the memories it invokes and the way it makes me feel. I'm sure if you stare down that road long enough, your imagination will also conjure up a story of where it leads...

Pathway to my dreams

Nice shot, I also like the story that goes with the photo. The fairies did not show themselves when you shot this so I guess you will have to go back and search for more. Very surreal setting, Love It!!!

It really does look like an enchanted forest, very calming, it leaves you wondering where does the path lead.

Karen, it is a Super Shot.

I live in Port Elizabeth, so Hogsback is only about 2.5 to 3 hours away. It is one of my favorite places in South Africa, although it's been a while since we have been there. It truely is a magical place of forests, mountains and waterfalls and yes, fairies do live there. How I long for a visit now.

That is a shot that should be printed. Or framed. Or SOMETHING! For real that is just perfection.

That is a fantastic shot! I love pictures of pathways. They really do tell a story -- they make you wonder what is just out of sight. Nice Job!
