Photostory Friday: Pics for my Aunt

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I'm finding it hard to word my post today because I'm feeling sad and depressed (nothing that I want to get into in detail) and when I'm feeling this way, it's hard for me to communicate in English (which is not my home language). I suppose the reason I'm even saying this is because I have a tendency to want to over- explain everything and was trying to think how I'm going to do this, but I think for today, the less words I use, the better.

Anyway. I did a post a while ago about my aunt's Moroccan Lifestyle business. She asked me then to take some photographs of her goods for an ad in a magazine as well as a pamphlet. I was very nervous about this assignment as I had never done anything like it before, but both ad and pamphlet turned out really nicely and I'm proud that I could pull it through.

This week she asked me to do another shoot as she needs fresh pics for a new ad. This time I knew I would manage and did a lot of close-up shots to showcase the magnificent detail of the ceramics, mirrors, lamps etc.

While I was shooting, I realised that I have come a long way since I started my blog a mere three months ago. I have learned so much simply by forcing myself to use my camera every day and by looking at the photos of other bloggers.

I've mentioned before that I've come to love macro photography, and I realise that I partly have my aunt to thank! If I weren't exposed to all the intricate detail on her wares, it might have taken me a lot longer to pay attention to the small things.

And it has also made me realise that there is much more to photography than photographing children! And I suppose it has also made me realise that there is, in fact, more to life than being a wife and a mother.

Beautiful shots, I agree we learn all the time from each other and thats wonderful, your childrens portraiture is beautiful, and something that I find very difficult, I had to do a bunch for a friend, they were pleased with results but, the pressure to produce an album of shots was mega, so, Karin I admire you for your wonderful work, I am a prime example of a "slummy Mummy" I have worked full time with both of mine and now, I am in the process of closing our bookshop, that my best girlie mate and I ran for 12 years, but "times is hard" so we decided to quit while we're ahead, my eldest has moved to Arizona, and I am going to be on the job market in January....God knows what I'll do ....but hey!!! as me mother says " when one door closes another opens,...or...slams in your face" so take heart, "its all part of that great adventure called life"..said Ann sobbing over her laptop lol

These are beautiful pieces as well as photos! Hope you feel better soon :)

Do you have a macro lens? I'm a canon girl, just got into it recently and same as you, self taught. Just a hobby really. My blog is fairly new as well, it's a fun world though, and blogging helps me to take more pics, so it's a win-win. Anyway, what lenses do you most often shoot with?

I so know how you feel. Whenever I'm sad or stressed I can't articulate it either (let alone blog about it) so I sincerely hope your situation improves Karin.

These shots were so vibrant and the perspective you shot them at was perfect. Beautiful job!

Hope everything is OK. (((HUGS)))
I love the angles that you take these macro shots at, mine would be quite boring in comparison. I'm very glad Henk asked me to send you advise about your blog, I'm loving seeing all your work.

Your pictures are truly beautiful. You certainly have a knack for the macro shots (I've really got to get myself a macro lens!)
You're right, pushing yourself beyond your comfort level is the way to true (and fast ) growth.
